Lavenham Stories - Fit for Purpose
Lavenham Classics. The quilted outwear we've been making versions of since the early 1970's. Originally designed to be worn whilst horse-riding, we've long outgrown our equine roots to become true wardrobe staples.
Offering lightweight warmth, our classic quilting can be layered up or down for year-round wear. Our quilted gilets work just as well as a jacket liner in the depths of winter as they do on a summers evening, over lighter clothes.
Fit for purpose was the favourite mantra of our founder Mrs Elliot. She was driven to do things differently and create functional clothing that was made to last. To this day her vision underpins everything we create. That's why we use only the best most durable materials and offer a lifetime repair service.
Every Lavenham piece is still made in Suffolk, just 7 miles from the site of our original factory in Lavenham village. Whilst many brands moved production overseas to reduce production costs, we always have and always will be made in Suffolk.
The benefits of being a factory brand are many, but our favourite thing about it is that we know who is making our clothes and that they are being paid fairly for their skill and expertise.
