Eventer Sponsorship 2014

Jenny George

My name is Jenny George, I am 28 years old and live in Sudbury with my husband Warren George and our beloved yellow Labrador Shirley.

I have been riding since I was 3 years old, starting at Twinstead riding school, I loved it from the very first minute and it was not long before my parents brought my first pony, a Shetland called Annie.  Annie taught me the basics and it was not very long before I was out competing.  I mostly competed in showing classes, working hunter ponies and pony club.  I have had some excellent results, winning county shows and prestigious championships along the way.  I have qualified 5 different ponies for the Royal International Horse Show and my 14 hand whp for the Horse of The Year Show.

Once I was too old for these classes I decided to join British Eventing as I have always loved the adrenaline rush that you get flying round a cross country course and thought it would be a natural progression.  Whisper my Irish draught x Thoroughbred loved my decision and quickly proved that she was more than capable, qualifying for the Badminton grassroots championships in our first season and coming 10th in the prestigious competition.  I have also qualified Oscar for the Badminton Grassroots championships which will be held in May.

As well as eventing, I also compete in Riding Club competitions representing the Ingatestone & Blackmore riding club.  I have qualified for the majority of the Riding Club National championships, winning the topscore class at Royal Windsor Horse Show on Whisper.  Oscar also won his arena at the riding club national horse trials championships last year.  I had a particularly successful season last year, Oscar wining the Area 8 Points competition with Whisper coming in 2nd.

As well as riding, I also take a great interest in watching people learn and progress on their horses having previously taught at pony club camps and rallies for my old pony club – The East Essex.

Oscar (Kilbrien Clover) is owned by Mr & Mrs Turner. He is a 12 year old, 16.3 grey gelding.
Oscar has qualified for the Badminton Grassroots Championships which will be held in May 2014, he qualified last year at the BE90 regional final at Milton Keynes.  Last year he also won his arena at the Riding Club National Horse Trial championships and ended the season being the Riding Club Area 8 points champion.  2014 has started well for Oscar as I was keen to get him out competing early in preparation for Badminton in May.  He started the season well with a 2ndat Isleham in the BE90, I then moved him up to BE100 at Oasby and was double clear and 4thand then 3rdat Great Witchingham International in a very competitive 100 section.

Wally -  Wally was purchased in November due to the sad news that Whisper would no longer be able to compete, she has now been retired due to an injury sustained last summer.  Wally is a 4 year old grey gelding purchased from Ireland he is approx. 16.1 but still growing! He had done very little when we brought him and was barely broken.  He is progressing very well and came 1stin his dressage competition a couple of weeks ago.  I hope to be able to start getting him out to jumping competitions soon and also take him cross country schooling to see what he thinks of it.  Providing all goes well I hope to do a couple of unaffiliated events at the end of the season. Hopefully he will be one to watch for next year!
